Obi-West Utchaychukwu, also known as “The Obi of Houston,” hails from Umunze in Anambra State, Nigeria. He was born and raised in Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria, where he had all his education. He studied international studies and diplomacy in Nigeria before heading to Tunisia to study the French language and basic Arabic. He is a polyglot, a globetrotter, a global voice, a community leader, and a global change maker. He lived in Finland for a decade before relocating to the United States two years ago. While in Finland, he founded Miss Afro Diaspora Finland, a beauty pageant for the minority African diaspora, which happens to be the only beauty pageant in the whole Nordic countries. He also established Diaspora Glitz Magazine in 2019, an Afrocentric hardcopy magazine that he later continued after arriving in the United States. He is the founder and CEO of the Global African Diaspora Awards (GADA), the biggest awards gala in the state of Texas and the most glamorous as well. GADA Awards celebrates the achievements of Africans globally in fields like business, innovation, leadership, and entertainment. Aside from being a media personality and an event organizer, he works in the medical field as a clinical researcher.
