Dr. Hauwa Babura is a distinguished Nigerian-American educator and social justice advocate whose transformative work in education and community development has earned her national and continental recognition. As the Technical Adviser on Basic Education to the Governor of Jigawa State and CEO of Teach Africa Today and the Kaka Hauwa Charitable Foundation, she has led groundbreaking reforms to improve literacy, empower teachers, and restore dignity to basic education across Northern Nigeria.

With a doctorate in Early Childhood Education and decades of service in both the United States and Nigeria, Dr. Hauwa is renowned for designing community-driven solutions to eradicate out-of-school children, improve school infrastructure, and uplift vulnerable populations. She is the founder of the Arewa Women in the Diaspora and a passionate advocate for girl-child education, ethical leadership, and youth empowerment.

Her initiatives, such as the Citizens Lead Initiative, Conscious Teaching Program, and the establishment of teacher resource libraries, reflect her unwavering belief that education is Africa’s greatest tool for transformation. Honored with multiple awards including the Arewa Humanitarian Award of Excellence and a Presidential Volunteer Award from the Obama administration, Dr. Hauwa continues to inspire a new generation of African leaders grounded in purpose, integrity, and impact.
